Working HVR-900 Driver

Well a quick update on the Linux driver for the Hauppauge HVR-900 USB tuner. A quick posting on the Video4Linux mailing list and I got some tips on setting up the unit for NZ. Appears I was using the wrong firmware pack, and I needed to use the v3 firmware set mentioned at the Em2880 page.

Also I was loading the wrong audio modules. I don’t need the em28xx-audio driver for this unit, so the correct modules are -

modprobe em28xx
modprobe em2880-dvb

It appears that the USB audio device is /dev/dsp1 so I had to select the correct DSP device when setting up the card in MythTV and now I have fully working audio on DVB-T and Analogue.

Here are a couple of updated screen shots taken from TVTime, without the interference pattern I was previously getting.

C4 TV - New Firmware
TV2 - Updated Firmware

So the last step now is to test the card with some of the other cards OpenMedia currently ship, in particular the ivtv driver for the Hauppauge PVR-150 and PVR-500 cards. More later.
