Hope you all like the new layout. Our new theme should be a lot clearer, and the upgrade also provides some additional useful features.

We now have a MythTV Articles section where we can keep some of the longer postings such as the Power Saving Tips and Technisat SkyStar 2 serial remote can be easily reached. This page will also have links to other useful reference material on the web.

Lastly the search button has been extended to include new postings and article pages.

MythTV at LCA 2008

There was some serious MythTV goodness at this years Linux.conf.au in Melbourne Australia.

Linux.Conf.Au

On the Monday, during MultiMedia MiniConf, there were a couple of MythTV related Lightening Talks. Steve Ellis from OpenMedia covered some of the issues decoding the NZ DTT Test transmissions under Linux. Josh Stewart then did a talk on A Clutter based MythTV frontend which looked very smooth and sexy.

On the Friday there was a brief MythTV BOF (Birds of a Feather) session where a bunch of users from NZ and Australia had a chance to catch up and talk about some common issues. It appears one of our biggest gripes these days is the quality of the EPG data. All too often we can’t track a particular show as we can’t get reliable program names. There was also some discussion about the new features we will be seeing on 0.21, and in particular how we are all looking forward to MultiRec support.

On the Saturday there was a MythTV stand as part of the OpenDay. A number of Australian users brought their own MythTV boxes in to demo, including an Asus EeePC as a wireless MythTV front end. OpenMedia brought one of their myPVR units over from New Zealand for the event which raised quite a bit of interest.
